Lukemore Joseph

Luckmore Joseph was born in 1979 in Malawi. Sadly, Luckmore lost his parents at a young age, an experience that made him realize how fragile life is and the importance of pursuing one's passions. As a child, he enjoyed weaving and sketching but it wasn't until he became an assistant to artist Sydney Majengwa in 1999 that he discovered his passion for carving.

Initially, Luckmore focused on carving torsos but eventually gained the confidence to pursue his own creative visions. He started exploring less conventional subjects such as pregnant women and street beggars, experimenting with various styles. As something of a philosopher, Luckmore believes that everyone has the right to live and that there is no difference between the rich and the poor.

Rather than imitating his teachers, Luckmore has been dedicated to developing his own artistic style and continues to explore new ideas. His work is now displayed in galleries and private collections worldwide.

In his leisure time, Luckmore enjoys playing football, and he has been married to his wife Faith since 2003.
