Wellington Chingondi

Wellington was born on May 25th, 1977 in Marondera, Chegutu district. He received his primary and secondary education in Glenview, Harare.

 

Wellington's interest in sculpting was sparked by his late sister who was married to the late sculptor Takawira Chikwanyanga at Tengenenge Art Community in Mvurwi in 1996. He also worked with renowned artists, the late Bernard Matemera and Alice Musarara, who is still actively creating art today.

 

Wellington's focus is on carving beautiful women with various hairstyles, using materials such as springstone, green opal, hard serpentine, and more.
